Two-for-One Screenings through February

Dr. Don W. Brown announced today that Southern Kentucky Vascular is kicking off a special "Share the Love," community screening event through the month of February. Brown said, "We'd like folks to come with a parent, their sweetheart, a co-worker, or anyone they care about to get screened this month. It's quick and painless, and it can be life saving for prevention of stroke, heart disease and arterial blockage."

The "Share the Love" Special Offer is a two-for-one opportunity where both individuals will receive a thorough vascular screening for the price of one -- a savings of 50%!

Brown added, "We believe there is no act more loving than helping someone take good care of their health. In the spirit of encouraging our community to care for each other, the special offer is the entire month of February."

Peace of Mind is a Great Gift

A screening can ensure that your vascular health is good and asymptomatic. When there is a family history of stroke or cardiovascular disease, it's especially important to screen. Even for those who are not at risk, this baseline diagnostic information is very helpful for future healthcare needs, as well.

The screening typically takes 45-minutes to an hour, and involves ultrasound and blood pressure measurements. "We check the neck, abdomen, and extremities for symptoms of stroke, heart attack or arterial blockage," said Brown. "When we find something that is concerning, it's much more preferable to an emergency situation."

Who Should Be Screened?

A vascular screening is an excellent tool to help determine someone's risk for stroke, heart attack or arterial blockage. A vascular screening is fast and easy to do, and if a blockage is found, can be life saving.

If you:

  • Have a family history of heart disease or stroke
  • Smoke
  • Lead a sedentary lifestyle
  • Have other conditions affecting circulation, such as diabetes
  • Travel regularly
  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Are generally in good health, and are interested in establishing a baseline reading

A vascular screening is recommended.
