Meet Dr. David Collins
GET TO KNOW DR. COLLINS
A lifelong Kentuckian, Dr. David Collins is proud of his Kentucky heritage and believes it’s the people that make her the best place to live. Dr. Collins began doing vascular surgery in 1992 and has 32 years of experience in the specialty. His extensive knowledge and unique expertise in this area provides vascular patients with valuable insight and experience.
Dr. Collins especially enjoys spending time in nature hiking and camping. He is an avid runner and has been a lifelong proponent of clean eating/living. He spends Sundays at church with family and friends and homelife with his dogs and beautiful wife. No grandkids yet, but expecting a few in the near future. He has many friends and extended family members in the area as the Collins family settled in east Kentucky in 1864, from Hancock Tennesssee.
EDUCATION
Dr. David Collins earned his medical degree from University of Louisville School of Medicine, Louisville, KY.
He completed his surgical residency at University of South Florida, Tampa, FL
He completed his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY; His vascular surgical fellowship at Univ of Tennessee, Chattanooga, TN; and his Thoracic Oncologic surgery fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer center, Philadelphia
He served as staff cardiothoracic, general and vascular surgeon at Eastern Kentucky Cardiothoracic Surgery in Ashland, KY, after which he worked in private practice at the Heart and Lung Institute, Pikeville, KY
He was the staff thoracic, vascular and general surgeon at Gulf Coast Veterans Affairs, Biloxi, MS
He served as staff thoracic, vascular and general surgeon at Jackson Purchase Medical Center, Mayfield, KY, as well as wound care specialist at Vohra Wound Care, Huntsville, AL
